How to Guide - Food logging

To log your foods, click on 'Nutrition' in the grey bar at the top of the Activity Manager page. All your food logging now takes place within this window.

To log a meal:

  1. Select the meal you want to log, by clicking on the left hand list of meals. For example, you might want to add an 'AM Snack'
  2. Type the food you want to add in the white search box (the box to the right of the magnifying glass symbol). The system will automatically search for foods as you type. All matching foods will be listed in the 'search results' list at the bottom of the page. Scroll down the page to view all the matching foods and click on the food you require to add it to your AM snack. Alternatively, if the food you want to add is already in your 'My frequently used foods' list at the bottom of the page, you can add it by clicking on it from within the list.
  3. As before, you can alter the serving size of the chosen item by typing a quantity in the 'serving size' box. You can also choose the units you require, for example a 'serving' or a 'slice'.
  4. You will find that the calories now automatically update as you alter the serving size of your selected food.
  5. Once you've added all the relevant foods to your AM snack, you must save it, by clicking on the 'Save AM Snack' button. This can be found underneath the list of added foods.
  6. Repeat this step for all the meals you want to add foods to.

I ate the same as...

If you've eaten the same as on a previous day, you can click on the 'I ate the same as...' button which can also be found underneath the list of added foods.

Create a new food

  1. To add a new food, click the the 'Create Food' button to the right of the food search box.
  2. Enter the name of your new food in the first box and then choose whether you want to add nutritional information per 100g, per 100ml or per package.
  3. Add the size of one item, if you know it, in the 'item size box'. This might be the weight of one item from the packet, one pot, or half a bag, but can also be whatever means the most to you.
  4. Add all the nutritional information from the label on your food packet, making sure that you add the sodium in mg, not g (convert g to mg by multiplying by 1000).
  5. Click on the orange 'Save Food' button to save the food into your personal database. If you want to add it to your meal at the same time, click on the checkbox to tick it and then save the food.

Create a new recipe

  1. To add a new recipe, click the 'Create Recipe' button to the far right of the food search box.
  2. Enter the name of your recipe to the 'recipe name' box and enter the number of servings that your recipe will serve in the 'serving size' box.
  3. Enter seperate food items to your recipe as you would add foods to a meal; searching for them, adding them to the recipe and then adjusting the quantity of each.
  4. When you are done, click on the orange 'Save Recipe' button to save the food into your personal database. If you want to add it to your meal at the same time, click on the checkbox to tick it and then save the recipe.

You can find all the foods and recipes you've manually added to your database by clicking on 'My Foods' to the left of the food search box.

If you enter foods into the wrong meal, for example; into AM snack rather than Lunch, you can now click on the foods you wish to move and drag them across to the correct meal in the meal list on the left-hand side of the nutrition page.

How to Guide - Uploading Your Armband Data

The method for uploading your Armband data has changed. Follow the steps below to upload your data to your account.

Syncing the Armband

  • Remove the armband from your arm and remove the monitor from the strap and frame.
  • Wait for the armband to turn off (as indicated by a series of beeps). This should happen within a few minutes.
  • Insert the USB cable into your computer and then into the USB port on the side of the monitor.
  • The SYNC software will detect when you have connected your armband to your computer and prompt you to log into your account (you can set the software to remember these details).
  • The software will automatically launch the Activity Manager and upload your latest data.

Viewing Data
Once the armband has been uploaded via SYNC, your data can be viewed within the Activity Manager. The SYNC software makes it easy to view the data with quick launch buttons and preference settings that allow you to launch automatically into the Activity Manager.

Setting Preferences
To change configurable behaviours click on the SYNC icon located in your system tray and select 'Preferences' from the popup menu.

How to Guide - Day Estimating

The new Activity Manager has a function to enable you to add an estimate for your daily calories consumed. This can be helpful if you miss a day's food logging and want to fill in the gap. It also gives you the option to enter calories consumed data that you've recorded outside of the Ki Fit System.

Estimating Your Calories Consumed:

  1. To select 'Day Estimating' as your method for logging your calories consumed, click on 'Nutrition' in the grey bar at the top of the Activity Manager page. You can then click on the 'Day Estimating' option on the right hand side of the page above the food logging section.
  2. Check that you are on the correct day by checking the date in the top left corner of the purple box. If not, you can use the 'Specific Day' arrows to scroll back and forth between days, or you can click on 'Specific Day' to choose a day from the pop-up calendar.
  3. You can then type your calories consumed figure straight into the box on the left side of the page.
  4. If you're not sure what to enter, the guidelines within the purple box should give you an idea of your personal calorie consumed figures in different situations.
  5. Please note that Day Estimating is not essential when you miss a day of food logging. The system only works out average results using days where you have logged data. It ignores days where you have not logged any data.
